I am the co-founder and co-director of Anchor Psychological Services. I have been a registered psychologist with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario since 2006. I work with children, youth, adults, and families with a wide range of problems and concerns, including eating disorders, anxiety and OCD, self-criticism, depression, grief, and attachment trauma. I practice from a neuro- and identity-affirming lens, creating a supportive space for every client. At the root of my treatment philosophy is a belief in the importance of developing a strong relationship with my clients and in their power to harness their strengths to make real change in their lives. I consider treatment to be a collaborative process, and I tailor my approach to meet the unique needs of each person that I work with. I bring compassion, humility, creativity, and humour to my work in order to help individuals and families in the hard work of change.
I obtained my Ph.D., in clinical psychology from Concordia University in 2005, where my training included work in a variety of public settings. Prior to co-founding Anchor Psychological Services, I was a staff psychologist at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario for 7 years, where I specialized in the assessment and treatment of eating disorders and associated mood and anxiety disorders. This experience was formative in teaching me about the healing power of caregivers and sparked my interest in emotion-focused approaches to family-based treatment across the lifespan. I am a certified supervisor and trainer in Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) and Emotion-Focused Therapy for Families (EFT-F). Along with Drs. Katherine Henderson and Adele LaFrance, I co-authored the clinician manual for EFFT: Emotion-Focused Family Therapy: A transdiagnostic model for caregiver-focused interventions (2019).
In addition to my love of clinical work, I have a passion for training, consultation, and mentorship of emerging psychologists and health professionals.
