This training is for nurses who will provide medical management of youth with eating disorders. This one-day training will review the recommendations from the American Academy for Eating Disorders on medical management of eating disorders. The focus will be on creating a safe therapeutic milieu and eating disorder informed compassionate care. Common challenges encountered when providing care with youth with eating disorders will be reviewed (for example, resistance, denial, splitting, and manipulation of vitals and weights).
